If you are reading this, at some point you opted to receive regular updates from HuffPost Media. We've been quiet for a while, but today we are launching Media Debrief, a run-down of the day's top industry news and opinion. Each weekday we'll tell you what insiders in the media industry are talking about, thinking about, reading. Suggestions or tips? E-mail us.
There's nothing quite like a Clinton story to set the press ablaze. After more than a week of silence about her use of personal email as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton finally addressed the controversy during a press conference this afternoon. Held at the United Nations, the event sent reporters scrambling for press credentials, which the organization only grants after a 24-hour waiting period (meant to weed out, say, "a Howard Stern regular who may lob oddball questions," according to our own Michael Calderone). Clinton defended her use of private email as a "convenience," and said she "thought using one device would be simpler." The remarks got an instant mocking on Twitter, where Foreign Policy's David Kenner quipped, "What I've learned here is that Hillary Clinton doesn't understand one device can be linked to two email accounts." The former Secretary of State then answered "the world's stupidest question," according to the Daily Caller, from a Turkish reporter, who asked if she'd have been subjected to such a "fuss" if she were a man. "I will leave that to others to answer," Clinton parried, before fielding a few more queries from reporters about how many emails she deleted, who she got clearance from to use a private email server, and why she didn't comply with the department's rules. "The laws and regulations in effect when I was Secretary of State allowed me to use my email for work," she said. "That is undisputed." Politico's Dylan Byers boiled Clinton's message down to its essence: "Hey media twits, there's more important shit going on in the world.".

Hillary Clinton: 'I Thought It Would Be Easier' To Use One Email Address
Clinton's explanation for why she opted to exclusively use private email was instantly mocked as unrealistic, if not a bit out of touch. How hard, after all, would it be to carry two phones: one for private matters and the other for professional work? Read more.
MoJo: The Clinton Media-Persecution Complex Returns
It is, unfortunately, an old and all-too familiar story. A Clinton, meaning Bill or Hillary, does something wrong (or possibly wrong). The media pounces; the Clinton antagonists of the right hit the warpath. Immediately, the Clinton camp and its supporters accuse the media and the conservative Clinton Hate Machine of trumping up a story to thwart the noble Clintons. Clinton spokespeople go into war-room mode. Resentful reporters grouse (privately and publicly) about the heavy-handed operators and obfuscators of Clintonland. And the right claims this latest fuss is a scandal that surpasses Watergate. Rinse, repeat. Read more.

NY Daily News Calls Out 'Traitor' Senate Republicans
