In this roundup, we hope to pack seven days of our site’s breaking news into a tote of travel-size tidbits, small enough to fit any overhead bin.
This week had a theme. A theme park theme. If this week had a theme song, it would be theme parks.
Okay, we digress. There are some things you'll have to explain to people who have never worked in a theme park. Mainly, that those "turkey legs" might be made from emu meat. And also why there's a Disney World bungalow that costs $2,000 per night (spoiler alert: because it's AWESOME).
But what's the ultimate theme park hack of the week? "Get to Disney World when it opens." ...oh really? We were planning to arrive at closing, because there's nothing like a stale emu leg.
Maybe we should just run off to Europe, after all. At this point, flying across the Earth will cost pretty much the same as the Happiest Place on Earth.
Now if only we could make those airplane seats bigger... but alas, the cabin is a small world after all.
Peace out, theme parks. It's Friday, and we've got a FastPass to the beach. Happy weekend, travelers!

The Huffington Post has partnered with Global Citizen to take action to end injustice and inequality in the world.
All humans should be able to thrive no matter where they call home yet 1 billion people around the world are still trapped in extreme poverty. That means that 800 million people will go to bed hungry tonight, more than 700 million are drinking dirty, and 57 million kids don’t have access to education.
For the first time in history, we have the power to end this but we cannot do it without you.
As a community we can have tremendous influence by joining the global outcry to end extreme poverty at this pivotal moment.
We invite you to join us in protecting fellow global citizens living in extreme poverty. Please add your name here and spread the word.

Notre Dame's secret investigations.. 'Game of Thrones' class.. Posted: 17 Apr 2015 10:13 AM PDT Friday April 17, 2015 Yale SAE Initiation Ritual Included Slut Shaming A Female Student The pledges of Yale University's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, or SAE, are required to wear a uniform of a blazer, button-down and tie — conspicuous garb for teenagers on a college campus, though they wear it proudly. The night of Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, was no exception. Twenty-two men clamored into the fraternity's off-campus house at 35 High St. The inside was dark. The pledges were greeted by the boisterous shouts of roughly 30 older members sitting on couches lined against the walls, decorated with framed photo composites of past fraternity classes dating back decades. Soon, the new pledge class's yearbook-worthy smiles would hang beside them. But first, they had to undergo initiation, their inaugural act as SAE brothers. Traditionally, the SAE president recounts fraternity lore. Pledges recite an oath. Two senior "chaplains," elected by their brothers for their entertainment value, give a presentation dressed in ridiculous clothes. The presentation is usually a mythological story about Minerva, the Roman goddess and patron saint of SAE, and the dirty details of her sexual encounters. It is lewd, but tongue-in-cheek in spirit. For the spring 2014 pledge class, however, the chaplains typed a speech about a different set of characters, who were not fictional. Among them was Zoe, a 20-year-old Yale sophomore they identified by name, but whose name has been changed for this story in an effort to protect her identity. In the six months before the ceremony, Zoe had engaged in sexual acts with five members of the fraternity — including the two chaplains. The title of the speech, as it has come to be known and discussed around campus, used her name in association with "Fifty Shades of Grey," the best-selling novel-turned-film focusing on a sadomasochistic relationship. The University Honors Program calls the class "Game of Thrones, Television and Medieval History" and students can take the course for honors credit, The (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle reported ( http://bit.ly/1FZj88k ). The popular cable television show, based on books by George R.R. Martin, is in its fifth season. "It represents aspects of the Middle Ages much more realistically than other media depictions that purport to be more accurate," co-professor Valerie Garver said. "It stands out because it comments on the human condition in a way that seems real to people. It's a really good example of a piece of modern culture that draws on how the past impacts the present." Notre Dame, Stung By 'The Hunting Ground,' Is Under U.S. Investigation For Sexual Harassment Cases The University of Notre Dame, which the documentary "The Hunting Ground" prominently accuses of botching rape cases, is the subject of a U.S. Department of Education civil rights investigation into complaints that sexual harassment victims were tormented by the school's bewildering system for handling sex cases. The Catholic university, which on Friday plans to screen the documentary on its campus in South Bend, Indiana, has been under investigation by the department's Office of Civil Rights for nearly two years, and hasn't publicly disclosed the probes. Two 2013 filings, obtained by The Huffington Post, portray the school's complaint process as a confusing mire of inaccurate information and dodged responsibility, bouncing victims along for months without explanation. Notre Dame has called "The Hunting Ground" inaccurate and says the film fails to acknowledge the school's efforts to combat sexual violence. The film highlights the case of Lizzy Seeberg, a student at nearby Saint Mary's College who committed suicide in 2010 after reporting that a Notre Dame football player violated her. "The Hunting Ground" argues that Notre Dame didn't promptly investigate Seeberg's case, and that campus police officers were told not to contact football players. The revelation that Notre Dame is under federal review shows that the Education Department is investigating many more U.S. colleges and universities for their handling of sexual harassment than was previously known. The department's Office of Civil Rights had said previously that it is investigating the handling of sexual assault cases at 105 colleges and universities. But Notre Dame hasn't appeared on the department's list because the tally only notes investigations involving sexual assault -- and not sexual harassment. The Education Department confirmed Thursday that its Office of Civil Rights is investigating 137 colleges and universities for their handling of either sexual violence or sexual harassment cases. Physicians Want Dr. Oz Gone From Columbia Faculty Columbia University has not removed TV celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz from his faculty position as a group of top doctors has demanded, citing his "egregious lack of integrity" for promoting what they call "quack treatments." Woman Files Suit Against Jameis Winston Over Alleged Rape A former Florida State University student on Thursday filed a lawsuit against top NFL prospect Jameis Winston, saying he assaulted and raped her at an off-campus apartment in 2012. The lawsuit by Erica Kinsman, which seeks damages from the former Seminoles quarterback, was filed two weeks before the April 30 NFL draft. Winston could be selected as the first overall pick. Winston has denied the allegations and prosecutors declined to file charges against him in late 2013. He also was cleared by the university following a two-day student conduct hearing last year. The hearing was held to determine whether Winston violated four sections of the code of conduct - two for sexual misconduct and two for endangerment. But John Clune, a lawyer for Kinsman, said in a statement there are consequences for Winston's behavior "and since others have refused to hold him accountable, our client will." "Erica hopes to show other survivors the strength and empowerment that can come from refusing to stay silent no matter what forces are against you," Clune said. "Jameis Winston in contrast has proven time and time again to be an entitled athlete who believes he can take what he wants. He took something here that he was not entitled to and he hurt someone." Education Department Nears Deal With Student Loan Giant Over Cheating Troops The U.S. Department of Education is nearing a deal with Navient Corp., the student loan giant formerly known as Sallie Mae, over allegations the company cheated active-duty troops on federal student loans, a department official said Thursday. The agreement likely would end the Education Department's much-delayed and heavily-criticized probe into whether the nation's largest student loan specialist -- a major government contractor -- broke the law that caps interest rates and provides other special financial protections for active-duty members of the military. Judge Dismisses Vassar College Lawsuit Filed By Student Expelled For Sexual Assault A federal judge has dismissed a gender discrimination lawsuit against Vassar College filed by a male student who was expelled for sexual assault. U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams of New York on March 31 dismissed the suit, filed by former student Xiaolu Peter Yu, who had contended the liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York, violated its own policies and the gender equity law Title IX in finding him responsible for sexual assault. A Vassar hearing panel found Yu responsible for sexual assault and expelled him on March 7, 2013, based on the finding that Yu did not obtain consent before having sex with a female student. The school says someone can't consent if a reasonable, sober person can tell they're too intoxicated. Abrams said the school's definition may include a "double standard," but that didn't help Yu's case. Read more. Spirit of my silence I can hear you But I’m afraid to be near you And I don’t know where to begin And I don’t know where to begin
Somewhere in the desert there’s a forest And an acre before us But I don’t know where to begin But I don’t know where to begin Again I've lost my strength completely, oh be near me Tired old mare with the wind in your hair
Amethyst and flowers on the table, is it real or a fable? Well I suppose a friend is a friend And we all know how this will end
Chimney swift that finds me, be my keeper Silhouette of the cedar What is that song you sing for the dead? What is that song you sing for the dead? I see the signal searchlight strike me in the window of my room Well I got nothing to prove Well I got nothing to prove
I forgive you, mother, I can hear you And I long to be near you But every road leads to an end Yes every road leads to an end Your apparition passes through me in the willows Five red hens – you’ll never see us again You’ll never see us again Read the whole story Follow HuffPost Religion on Facebook and Twitter 770 Broadway, New York, NY 10003 | | | | Construction alert: Capitol Hill Station Posted: 17 Apr 2015 09:16 AM PDT | Construction alert: Capitol Hill Station April 17, 2015 Roadway restoration of 10th Avenue E. to start as early as April 20 Starting as early as Monday, April 20, Sound Transit's contractor will begin work on 10th Avenue E. between E.
