This is a list of projects by contractors, utility companies and Snohomish County Public Works that are currently (or soon to be) affecting travel on roads in unincorporated Snohomish County.

A man armed with a gun and a hatchet was shot dead by police at a movie theater in Antioch, Tennessee, law enforcement told the press. The suspect, a 51-year-old man wearing a surgical mask, reportedly entered the theater around 1:15 p.m. ET and walked into a screening of Mad Max: Fury Road. The gunman opened fire on a police officer, who returned fire. A SWAT team later engaged the gunman. Two women were reportedly injured with pepper spray and one man sustained a superficial wound from the hatchet, according to police. 
Bill Clinton called Donald Trump this spring and "encouraged Trump's efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party," the Washington Post reported Wednesday, citing five people familiar with the exchange. Clinton's personal office confirmed the call occurred. Trump aides claim their boss was "candid about his political ambitions and his potential interest in seeking the White House during the talk...." Clinton "analyzed Trump's prospects and his desire to rouse the GOP base," according to Trump allies.
The prime minister of Malaysia announced Wednesday that the Boeing 777 flaperon discovered on an island last week belongs to Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. The announcement is just official confirmation of what was virtually certain given only one Boeing 777's whereabouts are unknown: MH370. French prosecutors, however, were more reserved and said there are "very strong" indications the part found on Réunion Island in the eastern Indian Ocean is from MH370.
An email exchange obtained by The Baltimore Sun revealed that a member of the Baltimore Ravens staff warned the Indianapolis Colts that footballs had been deflated before their AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots last season. The Ravens released a statement Wednesday denying that they had said anything about the footballs in the game. "Prior to the AFC Championship game, no one from the Ravens talked to the Colts about deflated footballs," according to the statement. "We knew nothing of deflated footballs." 
Jesse Benton, the man who ran Ron Paul's presidential campaign in 2012 and now heads Rand Paul's super PAC, was indicted Wednesday for an alleged endorsement-for-pay scheme. Benton is accused of concealing a payment of $73,000 to then-Iowa State Senator Kent Sorenson in exchange for his support for Paul. "Federal campaign-finance laws are intended to ensure the integrity and transparency of the federal election process," Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell said in a statement. "When political operatives make under-the-table payments to buy an elected official's political support, it undermines public confidence in our entire political system." Two others have also been indicted in the case.
Walter Palmer's Florida home was vandalized Wednesday with "LION KILLER!" spray-painted on the garage door. Someone also threw pigs feet all over the dentist's lawn. Palmer is being sought for extradition after killing the beloved lion in Zimbabwe. 
The Securities and Exchange Commission approved a rule Wednesday that requires companies to disclose the pay gap between typical wage earners and their CEOs. The agency's approval had been long delayed since it became required by the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act and passed the SEC by a narrow 3-2 margin. "While there is no doubt that this information comes with a cost, the final rule recommended by the staff provides companies with substantial flexibility in determining the pay ratio while remaining true to the statutory requirements," SEC Chairwoman Mary Jo White said. 
New evidence of Japan's atomic bomb program during World War II has been discovered and it shows the country was preparing to build the weapon as the end of the war neared. A retired Japanese professor discovered a blueprint and drawings for machines to enrich uranium dated March 1945. Tokyo burned documents about the program as the war was ending and the U.S. confiscated the rest. Scholars say Japan had the technical know-how to build a bomb but was starved for uranium, a rare natural resource not available in the archipelago. In May 1945, a German submarine carrying 1,200 pounds of uranium oxide was destined for Japan but surrendered to the U.S. after the fall of the Third Reich.

Profanation de tombes en Meurthe-et-Moselle : les trois adolescents mis en examen
Les trois adolescents âgés de 12 à 15 ans, suspectés d'avoir profané une quarantaine de tombes d'un cimetière à Labry, en Meurthe-et-Moselle, ont été mis en examen mercredi «pour violation de sépultures, dégradations en réunion et dégradations légères». Ils ont été placés en liberté conditionnelle par le juge des enfants, a précisé le procureur de Briey, Yves Le Clair.
Les trois mineurs - une fille de 12 ans et deux garçons de 14 et 15 ans -, aux motivations gothiques et habitant dans les environs de Labry, avaient reconnu les faits lors de leur interrogatoire devant les enquêteurs, a précisé le procureur.
Les services de la protection judiciaire de la jeunesse (PJJ) devront désormais proposer une mesure de réparation, "par exemple le nettoyage de cimetières", a expliqué une source judiciaire.

SR 99/Aurora Avenue North closures near South Lake Union, Aug. 21 – 24
Crews will close State Route 99/Aurora Avenue North near South Lake Union over the weekend of August 21 – 24. Travelers should plan ahead and prepare for additional local street congestion during the weekend.
The closure will result in a noticeable shift in traffic patterns on SR 99. Crews will move both directions of SR 99 near Harrison Street onto a new, curved structure west of the existing highway. This new structure is actually a bridge which will pass over roads leading from the future SR 99 tunnel.

SR 99 Closure Details – SR 99/Aurora Avenue North closed between the south end of the Battery Street Tunnel and Valley Street
Southbound lanes
- Closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24
Northbound lanes
- Closed Friday, Aug. 21 starting two hours after the end of the Mariners game. Will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24
Aurora Bridge
- WSDOT crews will also close up to two lanes of northbound SR 99 across the Aurora Bridge for bridge maintenance work between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22
Harrison Street at SR 99 – changes beginning Monday, August 24
- Drivers will no longer be able to enter northbound SR 99 via westbound Harrison Street due to necessary work. Access to northbound SR 99 from Thomas and John streets will remain open.
- Northbound drivers on SR 99 will be able to exit at Harrison Street as they do today.
First Thursday Speaker Series – A brief history of Ballast Island in Pioneer Square
